Blairsville is one of the state's best kept secrets! Located in northeast Georgia, Blairsville is
sits in the Blue Ridge Mountains within the Chattahoochee National Forest.
You will enjoy the scenic wonder of Blairvsille. Spectacular mountains, serene green valleys, crystal
clear lakes and beautiful waterfalls surround this small town. Blairsville is located within Union
County and has a population of approximately 700. It is one of the oldest towns in Georgia,
founded in 1835 and named for Francis Preston Blair, Sr., the editor of the Washington Globe.
This four-season vacation wonderland offers endless thing to do! Brasstown Bald
is the highest mountain peak in Georgia and has a park with a picnic area and a small observation
tower near the peak. And nearby beautiful state park is Vogel State Park which is centered
around Lake Trahlyta and has about five miles of trails and walkways which wind their way
around the central lake and into the woods.
Two archaeological sites are located near
Blairsville; Trackrock Archaeological Area which has preserved petroglyph of ancient
Indian origin, and the Blood Mountain Archaeological Area, the site of a Cherokee and
Creek Indian Battle before the arrival of white man.
