Copperhill, TN is located just north of the Georgia border in Polk County Tennesse.
Copperhill of one of two mining towns that served the Copper Basin area.
Copperhill, the larger town is located on the banks of the Ocoee River as it crosses into Tennessee.
Across the state line adjoining Copperhill, is the North Georgia town of McCaysville. The Ocoee
River becomes the Toccoa River once it crosses the Georgia state line.
Copperhill offers a picturesque atmosphere of quaint shops, several eateries and lodging and in-town
living built into the mountainside.
You can relax and enjoy the spectacular mountain and water views or spend the day experiencing exciting
outdoor activities. The Copperhill srea offers a natural settings for hiking, tubing, kayaking,
whitewater rafting, fishing, camping, hiking, horseback riding riding, and backpacking in a land
of beauty and mountain wilderness.
McCaysville, chartered in 1904, is located on the Georgia-Tennessee state line adjacent to Copperhill, Tennessee, its twin city. You can actually have one foot in Georgia and one foot in Tennessee when you cross the Blue Line marking the place where the states meet. Toccoa Avenue (Georgia) turns into Ocoee Street (Tennessee), while the Toccoa River becomes the Ocoee River under an old iron bridge built in 1911 that is still standing.
